I don’t think VirtualBox offers such a feature, so. If needed, one can boot from the BIOS or a DVD/USB, and restore a full image in much less than an hour. ViBoot, even in the “free” edition, mounts any system image in its entirety for exploration. Not sure what you refer to when mentioning the inability to mount images larger than 4GB or why VirtualBox is mentioned.
